British Craft Pavilion Talks & Workshop

As part of our curatorial programme, Hole & Corner are hosting a series of workshops and talks at the Common Cafe in the British Craft Pavilion at London Design Fair from September 21-24…

Communicating Craft

Sam Walton and Mark Hooper from Hole & Corner will be in conversation with Dean Hearne of cult online lifestyle store The Future Kept and Helen Osgerby of Simple Shape and co-organiser of the South East Makers Club to discuss their collaborative approach with independent makers and the importance of how they communicate and portray the output of those  they work with, whether it be in print, online or on Instagram.

Land Chocolate

A tasting and talk from East London chocolate maker Phil Landers of Land Chocolate. Landers will share the provenance and process of making his award-winning single origin chocolate from bean to bar – and then you’ll have the opportunity to taste some!

A Playful Search for Beauty? 

A panel discussion hosted by Hole & Corner that will focus around the importance of material, process and approach in ceramics, featuring Kana London, Modern Craft Workshop, Dove St Pottery, Pottery West, Tanya McCallin, Leonie Stanton, Olivia Walker and Linda Bloomfield.

Weaving Workshop

Tapestry weaver Christabel Balfour will host a two-hour introduction to weaving class, covering the basics as well as more advanced techniques such as shape building, colour blending, soumak and rya knotting. Participants will make their own woven wall-hanging to the home. All materials will be provided, including a large selection of wools and yarns to try. Participants will also have the option of purchasing their own weaving kit to take away, including tools, instruction booklet and a handmade loom.

Upcycle a Welly into Phone Case



Francli - aka Ali Goodman - will be sharing her knowledge of up-cycling and traditional leatherwork techniques by making phone cases from wellington boots. Participants will pick a welly, prep the material, cut a phone case pattern, glue into place, then mark and punch holes, saddle stitch and finish the edges to create their own waterproof case.

How we Make Things



A panel discussion hosted by British Craft Pavilion curators Hole & Corner in the Common Cafe (situated in the British Craft Pavilion) with Forest + Found, Stoff Studios, Julian Mayor and Par Avion, on where ideas come from, their conceptual approach and how they collaborate with others.
